Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of DietTribe.nz ("DietTribe", "we", "us", "our") and the DietTribe mobile app (iOS and Android). By using the site or app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

Use of the service

DietTribe is a directory of dietary-friendly products and venues. It is provided for informational purposes only. You may use the site and app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service
• Systematically scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the site or API
• Reproduce or republish our venue assessments or curated content without permission

Not medical or dietary advice

Information on DietTribe is not medical advice and should not be relied upon as such. Dietary requirements vary between individuals, and ingredient formulations can change without notice. Always verify ingredients and allergens directly with the manufacturer or venue before consuming a product or eating at a venue — especially if you have coeliac disease or a severe allergy.

Accuracy of information

We make reasonable efforts to keep listing information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any information on the site. Venue menus, opening hours, and dietary offerings change. We accept no liability for loss or harm arising from reliance on information displayed on DietTribe.

Our content and intellectual property

The following content is owned by DietTribe and may not be copied, redistributed, or incorporated into another product or service without our written permission:

• Venue dietary assessments — our editorial determinations of whether a venue is suitable for coeliac, gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, or other dietary needs
• Curated menu item flags — gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and other dietary flags applied to menu items through our review process
• Evidence summaries — written summaries of the evidence supporting a listing's dietary classification
• Site design, layout, and code — the look, feel, and underlying software of the site and app

Factual information — such as a venue's name, address, phone number, and opening hours — is not claimed as our property.

Product data and Open Food Facts

Nutritional and ingredient data for packaged products is drawn in part from Open Food Facts, an open, collaborative food database. Product data contributed to or sourced from Open Food Facts is made available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) and individual contents under the Database Contents Licence (DbCL). We actively contribute product data back to Open Food Facts to support the broader open food data ecosystem.

User submissions

When you submit content to DietTribe — including listing suggestions, evidence photos, corrections, or feedback — you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use, store, display, and reproduce that content as part of the service. You confirm that you own or have the right to submit the content, and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.

Product photos you submit may be contributed to Open Food Facts under the DbCL licence as described in our Privacy Policy. You may opt out of this by noting it in your submission.

We reserve the right to reject, remove, or modify submitted content at our discretion.

Third-party content and links

The service may include links to third-party websites or reference content from external sources. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site. Links are provided for convenience only.

Menu images or information sourced from a venue's own website or official channels remain the property of the respective venue or rights holder.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DietTribe is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of or reliance on the service, including but not limited to adverse reactions to food consumed on the basis of information found on DietTribe.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when they were last changed. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
